Music And Sound Oscar Nominations Revealed

This year's Academy Awards nominations have been announced in L.A by Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas ahead of the virtual ceremony on April 25.

The 93rd annual Academy Awards will be televised live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

In addition, there were a few nods for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, which sees Viola Davis play influential blues singer, Ma Rainey. The film dramatises a turbulent recording session in 1920s Chicago.

The film received nominations in the following categories:

Best actress: Viola Davis

Best actor: Chadwick Boseman

Best costume design: Ann Roth

Best production design: Mark Ricker, Karen O'Hara and Diana Stoughton

Best makeup and hairstyling: Sergio Lopez-Rivera, Mia Neal and Jamika Wilson

Sound of Metal, depicting a heavy-metal drummer's life that is thrown into freefall when he begins to lose his hearing, also received several nominations:

Best picture: Sound of Metal

Best actor: Riz Ahmed

Best supporting actor: Paul Raci

Best original screenplay: Darius Marder, Abraham Marder, Derek Cianfrance

Best film editing: Mikkel EG Nielsen

Andra Day received a nomination for best actress for her role as Billie Holiday in The United States vs Billie Holiday.
