Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium upgrades audio with NEXO ahead of 2030 World Cup

One of Africa’s most significant football venues has received a major sound system upgrade with the NEXO GEO S12 line array, all part of the venue’s comprehensive rebuild following its reopening in September 2025.

The sports stadium now boasts a capacity of 68,700, and to improve crowd atmosphere and experience, the venue tasked French audio production company Fleik to reconfigure its existing sound infrastructure around the NEXO GEO S12.

The speakers specialise in sound reinforcement, meaning the sound can be heard more easily across the sports stadium. Jérémie Kokot, sound designer and manager of Fleik, said they used 20 clusters of three NEXO L20 subwoofers. These speakers are specifically designed to enhance the low-frequency sounds of the NEXO GEO S12 system, making it particularly well-suited to the stadium broadcast environment.

“To extend the sound coverage towards the North Plaza [in the stadium], we also designed a new NEXO STM system suspended beneath the façade,” Kokot explained. “This consists of two lines of nine M46 Main modules and nine B112 Bass modules, complemented by three M28 modules.”

The stadium recently hosted the Africa Cup of Nations, Africa’s premier international football tournament. Coverage was fine-tuned using the NEXO NS-1 simulation software and reportedly achieved consistent sound across all stands and spectator areas with no reported dead zones or tonal imbalances.

“The integration with the NEXO NeMo monitoring system and the use of the Dante protocol has strengthened signal distribution, routing and adaptation to the different event uses of the stadium,” said Antoine Secondino, co-founder of Fleik.

The venue now fits the requirements to host matches up to the semi-finals in the 2030 FIFA World Cup and hopes to offer stable and high-performance sports broadcasting with the new-and-improved speaker technology.
