London cafe to host music event raising money for families affected by domestic abuse

On Saturday 6th September, London’s Avalon Cafe in South Bermondsey will host a charity fundraising music event in aid of AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse).

AAFDA supports those left behind after fatal domestic abuse. They rely on voluntary donations so that they can continue to support bereaved families and help to prevent future domestic abuse.

Stomp For Freedom will feature a line-up of speeches from activists, volunteers and councillors who work to stop violence against women and girls in this country and others. There will also be live music and DJ sets through till 2am.

Confirmed speakers include AAFDA fundraising manager, Loukia Michael, Viv Bickman MBE – who has been recognised for developing and implementing best practices against domestic and sexual violence and promoting proactive policy and procedures to safeguard those at risk – and Lambeth counsellor and deputy mayor of Lambeth, Christine Banton. Christine has many civic and ceremonial responsibilities and has an ambassadorial role as first citizen of the borough. VAWG Champion, School Governor, Community Connector.

All funds raised will go directly to fund the charity in cutting down their waiting list and helping families get the support they need and deserve.

The event is organised by #LIVEFORLOVE, an initiative founded by Hannah Ford and William Wallace during the first UK lockdown in 2020. What began as daily livestreams to raise money for food banks has since grown into a movement supported by leading names in the UK music industry.

Tickets for the event are available here.
