Jess Glynne’s Hold My Hand tops TikTok’s song of the year

Jess Glynne’s Hold My Hand has been named as TikTok’s song of the year thanks to the viral Jet2holiday trend.

Originally released in 2015, the song has become associated with adverts for Jet2holidays over the years. Its popularity rose again on TikTok in 2025, as users began adding the track to videos about holiday failures. The song has now soundtracked around 6.6 million videos on the platform.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Glynne said: "It's the most amazing feeling knowing that 10 years later a song that means so much to me, and was such an important part of my journey into music and earning my stripes as a solo artist - to 10 years later to be able to celebrate again and again throughout this year - has been insane.

Seeing the way the song has reconnected to the younger generation is a really amazing thing to see.

“Seeing the way the song has reconnected to the younger generation and they've all heard it for the first time - it's just a really amazing thing to see.”

Glynne rose to fame in 2014, appearing on Clean Bandit’s hit Rather Be. She released her debut album, I Cry When I Laugh in 2015, which also went to number one.

TikTok works out its artist of the year rankings by using a formula based on the number of videos that use their music and the popularity of the act's own posts. Posts using Hold My Hand have been viewed more than 80 billion times, according to the platform.

Other songs reintroduced by viral TikTok trends this year include Radiohead’s Let Down, which was released in 1997 and, most notably, Connie Francis’ Pretty Little Baby, which has gained popularity once again almost six decades after its release in 1962.
