“The end of an era”: Terminal V takes place in Edinburgh for final time

Terminal V returned to Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre for the last time in April, marking the end of the festival’s nine-year run in the city. Plans are underway for a new Scottish location in 2027, alongside a global programme of events, including the launch of Terminal V Australia.

Taking place across the 18th and 19th of April 2026, the festival welcomed around 40,000 attendees over the course of the weekend, and more than 100 artists from around the world.

Backed by a £1 million investment in the festival site, Terminal V 2026 featured a full site transformation and a redesigned sound system developed with d&b audiotechnik.

Since its launch in 2017, the festival has drawn over a quarter of a million visitors to Edinburgh. Along the way, it has earned recognition as Scotland’s number one festival, the fifth-ranked festival in the UK and the 34th in the world according to the DJ MagTop 100 festivals poll, while also being named Best UK Festival at the DJ Mag Best of British Awards in 2023.

The lineup featured performances from Klangkuenstler, Mall Grab, Robert Hood, Restricted, Ben Hemsley, Vieze Asbak and Sara Landry, who brought the UK festival exclusive of her ETERNALISM show.

What comes next for Terminal V will be bigger and more ambitious than anything we’ve done before Simon McGrath, co-founder

Over the past nine years, Terminal V has played a key role in developing Scotland’s electronic music landscape. Recent years have seen the festival’s influence extend beyond the city, with the launch of a Croatian festival edition each summer and a successful London debut at the 15,000 capacity Drumsheds.

“Nine years ago, we had a vision for what Terminal V could be, and Edinburgh gave us the platform to realise it,” said Derek Martin, co-founder of Terminal V. “Closing this chapter is bittersweet, but watching so many people share this weekend with us made it feel like the celebration it deserved to be. This might be the end of one era, but we are excited about what is coming next. 2027 will also mark our 10th anniversary as well as a new, exciting chapter for Terminal V."

“The standard of this weekend is the benchmark we’ll take with us,” added Simon McGrath, co-founder. “We never compromise, and we never will. What comes next for Terminal V will be bigger and more ambitious than anything we’ve done before."
