Colorado’s historic opera house transforms cinema using Alcons Audio

Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado, has completed a significant upgrade to its cinema playback system with the installation of an Alcons Audio pro-ribbon sound resolution system, with plans to elevate audience listening experience across its busy multi-purpose programme.

The upgrade was carried out by Colorado-based AV integration specialists Rockfan AVL, which claims the system is designed to meet the acoustic demands of cinema playback and the flexibility required for a historic venue hosting concerts, theatre productions and internationally recognised film festivals.

The installation is composed of three CR4 large-format pro-ribbon screen channel systems, supported by two CB362 high-output dual 18-inch subwoofers and powered by two ALC Sentinel 10 amplified loudspeaker controllers.

This type of upgrade happens once every decade or two, and future patrons will continue to benefit from this experience.

“This type of upgrade happens once every decade or two, and future patrons will continue to benefit from this experience for years to come,” said Wheeler Opera House’s Baca.

Opened in 1889, the Wheeler Opera House is one of Aspen’s most celebrated cultural institutions. With the installation of the Alcons Audio pro-ribbon technology, it joins a growing number of prestigious venues using the system for reference-quality sound.
