CGI delivers full AVL integration for Canada’s first Hard Rock Live

Clair Global Integration (CGI) has completed a full-venue audio, video and performance lighting fitting for Canada’s first Hard Rock live music and entertainment venue.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa now features an L-Acoustics speaker system, ATS-Pro video walls, a Ross Video switcher, a grandMA3 full-size lighting console, and CM motors. The music venue was designed by Scéno Plus, a Montreal-based firm specialising in the design of entertainment venues.

The design took guest experience into consideration; 1Sound Cannon C6 marine speakers were colour-matched to the building to play music from the moment guests arrive.

CGI handled the distribution of audio and video to back-of-house locations within the 2,200-capacity venue, with the system managed by QSC Q-SYS and featuring JBL Professional loudspeakers.

For audio distributed in the casino area, CGI engineer Joe Holcomb tuned and time-aligned all audio zones throughout the casino and ancillary spaces.

This comes as another collaboration with Hard Rock International and CGI. The audio equipment is well-suited to house touring Canadian artists. Some well-known names have taken centre-stage in the Hard Rock live venue previously such as David Foster, Katharine McPhee and Avril Lavigne.

“We've blended top-tier audio, video walls, and performance lighting into a single, user-friendly system, and have given Hard Rock AV staff the confidence to run every scenario smoothly," said senior CGI project manager Mark Mistal.
