BMG has announced the acquisition of Country musician Jason Aldean’s recorded music catalogue, along with interests in the recorded catalogues and publishing rights of a music collection from a cross-section of 23 artists and songwriters. The entire acquisition encompasses 1,000+ songs across multiple genres.
To date, the deal marks BMG’s single largest catalogue acquisition investment. Recently, the company reported that its total investment in music rights since the launch of parent company Bertelsmann’s Boost program in 2021 has now exceeded $1.5 billion.
Thomas Coesfeld, BMG CEO, said: "This landmark deal sets a new level of catalogue acquisitions at BMG, while underscoring our commitment to the music and the discipline of our approach. By bringing together the iconic catalogue of Jason Aldean, we are strengthening our footprint in Country music while expanding across genres and deepening our investment in the U.S. – the world’s largest music market. This move highlights our ability to maximise the value of music rights and represents a powerful step in BMG’s strategy to be the most effective, artist-first music company in the world.”
